Cubs start at 8 years old and transfer to Scouts at 10 1/2 years of age. Cub Scouts go on trips and camps and enter district competitions. They have many visitors to section nights including The Zoo Man, Lollypop Lady, local Police, School Nurse etc who explain about their job and how they fit into the community. There are many badges to pass the the top award for a Cub is the Chief Scout Silver Award, for this they have to complete 6 Challenge Badges.
Cubs love camping and we have held very successful camps at Waddecar, Bispham Hall, Bibbys Farm and Bowley. On camp there is more space for the children to play, do activities and develop their own personalities. The activities on camp include wide games, competition games, crafts, archery, shooting, canoeing, climbing and much more. Camping gives young children a sense of adventure and being away from home they learn to look after themselves. This obviously is done under the watchful eye of trained leaders.
