2nd Leyland leaders & parents tug of war team are District Champions

2nd Leyland Scout Group was formed in 1929 and meets in the Scout Hut which is situated on Eden Street, Leyland (behind Tescos).
The Group has grown in numbers over the past 3 years and currently has 105 members. There is a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop. Each section meets weekly and consists of both boys and girls and welcomes anyone from 6 years old to 14 years old.

Beavers start at 6 years of age and transfer to cubs at 8 years of age. There are both boys and girls in our colony.
Beavers go on one night sleepovers which are held indoors, they can only camp if parents/guardians sleep with them.
Beavers do a wide range of activities and badges. The highest award a Beaver can get is the Chief Scout Bronze Award and for this they have to complete 6 Challenge badges. Beaver Scouting encourages younger children to mix, work as team members, develop new skills, make new friends, try new activities and to develop their own personality. |

Scouts start at 10 1/2 and transfer to Explorers at 14 , there are both boys and girls in our Scout Troop.Scouts do a varied assortment of activities including, team challenges, cooking, games, trips out, essential outdoor skills and many camps.
All this work leads up to them gaining their Chief Scout Gold Award if they complete 8 of the 9 challenges.
Each Patrol takes it in turns to help run the Tuck Shop and choose the games for the night.There are also many opportunities for Scouts with the help from Leaders to take part in fundraising events.

Cubs start at 8 years old and transfer to Scouts at 10 1/2 years of age. Cub Scouts go on trips and camps and enter district competitions. They have many visitors to section nights including The Zoo Man, Lollypop Lady, local Police, School Nurse etc who explain about their job and how they fit into the community. There are many badges to pass the the top award for a Cub is the Chief Scout Silver Award, for this they have to complete 6 Challenge Badges.
